The citizens of Philadelphia should be tipping our hats to the Philadelphia Museum of Art for bringing home one of the highest prizes in the art world, the Venice Bienalle’s Golden Lion award. America should be patting Philly’s back to, since our nation hasn’t won one of these puppies since 1990.
PMA brought home the award because of their role in bringing Bruce Nauman’s Topological Gardens to the U.S. pavilion at Venice. One of his pieces, called The True Artist Helps the World by Revealing Mystic Truths, was recently acquired by the PMA.
